The Nutcracker

We took Laina to see The Nutcracker today. It was put on by the Portland Ballet and they did an abbreviated version called "Short & Sweets". It was wonderful. It ran about 45 minutes long which was just perfect for a three year old! It took place at a beautiful theater that is actually a renovated church in Lewiston. We had a lovely time and Laina really seemed to enjoy herself. At the end of the show we were all invited up to the stage to meet the dancers and Laina was a little overwhelmed by that. She wouldn't pose for a picture without me being in it too and she wasn't really into giving up too many smiles.

We had our first real snow of the season today. Blah. I'm trying to remain positive because Laina is so excited about it. It is very pretty to look at. This morning she proclaimed "now we can dig!", meaning now Laina and daddy can shovel. After the Nutcracker ended and we were driving home in the car she said "can we dig now". So, in the dark, Joe took her out to shovel. A true Mainer shoveling in her Sunday best...dress, tights and boots!

Here we are ready to leave for the big performance

And finally, back at home shoveling
